Take a moment to imagine where you would be without education or training… What would your life look like? What would your family’s life look like? What sort of work would you be doing? How much would you be earning?
It’s probably a very different picture to your life today, right?
Research shows that when you educate a young person the benefit ripples out improving all areas of their life, their family’s lives and their community, as a whole. Health, employment and social outcomes all improve through education.

“The AFL Cape York House education and wellbeing program has allowed me to take ownership and change the economic trajectory of my family,” AFL Cape York House graduate, Anthony Nicholls.
Through your tax-deductible donation to AFL Cape York House Foundation, you are giving Indigenous young people the resources to create positive and fulfilling lives now and into the future and contributing to programs that provide genuine improvements to the lives of Indigenous Australians.
Seeing an opportunity to help, the AFL partnered with Elders and families to identify the barriers to education students faced and pioneered a blueprint for a purpose-built facility that enables Indigenous young people to thrive in school and in life.
The impact of AFL Cape York House Foundation’s work also contributes towards broader social, economic, cultural and environmental outcomes. Through our programs, we empower our young people with the tools to build positive futures and contribute to a vibrant and culturally strong Indigenous community.
This recording and sharing of traditional knowledge helps preserve the rich cultural heritage of Cape York and Torres Strait Islands and protects our environment for future generations of Australians. A strong connection to culture improves our young people’s social and emotional wellbeing, improving engagement with education and overall life outcomes. In this way, we are preserving the past and protecting the future by empowering young people today.
